What inspired us to create MYPATH?
We were inspired to create MYPATH due to a love for yoga and the beauty of nature and a dream to combine the two into an event that would create a healing community of safety and trust in which people can feel supported and encouraged to shine their light and find their own path.
Brenda owns the gorgeous organic farm venue in central Kentucky and Gabriella’s beautiful donation-based yoga studio is in Louisville, KY. Together we combined our talents and our connections to produce MYPATH, which is an acronym for Mindful Yoga Practice At Terrapin Hill. We wanted to bring people out of the city and into the beautiful Kentucky countryside, to step away from their regular lives and enter a world where they can focus on themselves, fine tune talents, learn new ones, and come together in a supportive, inclusive community. MYPATH has been called the place where healers come to heal, but it is open to people of all ages and no experience is necessary to attend.
We also wanted to create an opportunity for people to experience the deeper meaning of Yoga. Yoga is far more than just the Asanas (poses), which are what people generally think of when they hear the term. We wanted to introduce people to the great variety of styles, lineages, and approaches, recognizing that it’s much easier to try new things when it’s presented all in one place. When combined with the benefits of being fully immersed in nature, you have an extraordinary opportunity to connect with yourself and others.

What makes MYPATH unique?
Terrapin Hill Farm is a gorgeous setting for this festival/retreat. Classes take place on stunning handbuilt stages, a comfortable pavilion, or on top of a grassy hill that overlooks surrounding farms and has amazing sunrise and sunset views. The highway is about half a mile away, so you'll feel like you're worlds away from everything else. But you'll find all the amenities you need including hot showers and a little store that sells ice and camping items. A bonfire is lit at the opening ceremony and as it burns throughout the weekend long it provides a focal point for gathering, especially in the evenings.
MYPATH takes place in the spring and fall of each year and is tuned into these seasons. The spring event has a fresh, outward, energetic yang energy, and the fall event has a slower, introspective, yin energy. Each MYPATH also has a unique theme interwoven into the classes and participants are invited to reflect on the theme throughout the weekend, and discover how it relates to their own journey.

What does the logo mean?
The logo for MYPATH incorporates the Flower of Life, which creates everything in the universe and is the visual expression of the connections of life. The Yin/Yang symbolizes the two events we have each year. The Spring MYPATH is more yang inspired, full of growth and energy, while the Fall event is more yin inspired, more therapeutic and geared towards quiet self reflection. Also, the Yin/Yang symbolizes the purpose of yoga, which is to balance the two sides of the body, the masculine and feminine energies, and thus find samadhi, or union with the divine. The turtle is a sacred figure in Native American symbolism as it represents Mother Earth, and also signifies good health, long life, endurance, and persistence. The arrows signify the journey along our path, as we travel around the circle of life.
The logo thus symbolizes the intention for MYPATH, which is to foster good health, happiness, and connectivity as we travel our life path on Mother Earth, by balancing one’s energies through the persistent practice of yoga.
Parts of the logo also tie in Gabriella and Brenda’s other passions. The turtle shape is directly from Terrapin Hill Farm’s logo, which Brenda designed and can be seen on the barn quilt as you come in the driveway to the farm. The arrows represent those from the logo for The Inner Warrior, the store that Gabriella and her mother run in Louisville. Like the event itself, designing the MYPATH logo was a collaborative effort between Brenda and Gabriella.
